Developed from Ferrari's
first line of genuine production sports cars, the 250 GTO is probably
the model that defined a whole new generation of racing cars.
Introduced in 1962, the 250 GTO continued in "production"
until 1964. It has won many titles: 1962 till 1964 Grand Touring
title, 1962 Le Mans, 1963 Tour de France, 1963 GT class Nurburgring and
the 1962 & 1963 Tourist trophies. It is the most famous, succesfull
and most expensive Ferrari of all time. The price when new was $18.000
today however an example can command more than $3.000.000 with examples
having been sold for $15.000.000. This is not surprising since total
production stopped at only 39 examples. |
